mreperf
After a short trip with no previous problems I found my battey completly dead and after charging and running the car (1998 seville sls) and getting 14.2 volts running and 12.2 shut off it was completlt dead this morning. The only codes are as follows ABS-C1252, C1253, U1255 PCM-P1611, P1652 SDM- B1141 But none seem relevent. Battery is around 5 yrs. old but it never gave any signs of starting hard and I didn't think it would drain itself overnight. Any ideas?
BodybyFisher
First try cleaning your battery connections especially the sandwiched positive cable. NEVER remove the positive cable first always remove the negative cable. Make sure the cables are tight when the bolts are tight and the bolts are not bottoming out. If the connections are good, batteries are like that, they can crap out spontaineously, have it checked out Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

Guess I need to have battery tested.
BodybyFisher
Yes, I would do that at 5 years old, anything goes, it could be a dead cell, report back what you find Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
Ranger
At 5 yrs old I would not even be testing it. Just replace it.
