Leaves in A/C?

Recommended Posts

Whatsup everybody.. First off great post and reply.. it really looks like i finally found a website that i can match with!

Heres the problem..

I have a 2001 STS ..gorgeous. Tints all around, Front window tinted ( I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT) and i also installed hids on the whole lighting system. .i ll post pictures soon.

The car is my baby..ive had it for about 4 years now and im still in love with it.

My AC has been acting a little funny..i had the blend door actuator problem for a minute but thankfully it fixed itself..(caddys always do) now the overall STRENGTH of the ac has gone down real low.. i called my mechanic and he mentioned that leaves and what not could have gotten into the system and i truely dont know where to look..

any suggestions??

What do you mean by "ac has gone down real low"? Temperature or air flow? If air flow, check the filters. They may be clogged.

The strength of my ac isnt what it used to be.. When i have it on full blast in a hot summers day i still have to roll the windows down because its still hot! the air is cold , the Strength is weak.. then the dealer said something about a compresser about 6 months ago.. i replaced it and now this happened.. he said something about there being leaves in the system..

any suggestions?

Check the codes to see if you have a low freon code or anyother codes first

Then, my AC is not putting out cold as we speak it needs a charge every two years or so, get your AC evacuated and recharged, and have them use some dye and maybe you can locate the leak

The temp is good.. I know i have a small leak on the actual thing knob thingamajigger used to recharge the ac (thats another question for another day..). My question is on the Strength of the ac blowing.. Driving me nuts when it feels like its 100+ degrees outside! I have no idea where i could check the filter.. im actually thinking about taking some pics and posting it on here...

Please define "Strength of A/C". Do you mean 1) the volume of air out of the vents is not sufficient or 2) is the temperature of the outlet air not cold enough.

It seems to be the volume of air Kevin, it seems that his temp is ok. Fan?, actuators?, filter?

Filters are above and to the right of the accelerator. There are 3 that are stacked and interlocked. As Charles said, they are a royal PITA.

You know my ac at first was having a little problem kicking in.. this was about 12 months ago. My mechanic was telling me to give it a good hit and it would jump start.. it did , and i kept cool and happy. Then when i replaced the blower motor thingamajig i noticed that this black box type thing in the passenger side under the dash ..the thing that i was hitting had a little bit of cracks on it and pieces were coming off.. so i Ghetto rigged it with scotch tape chazglen because Coin i do not have.. i then replaced the blower and thought life was good and then recently its been acting weird.. could this be my problem? What is the name of the part that i need to replace!
