95SevilleSLS
I'm going to be beefing up my 425 in my deville later this year and I need some links to people that sell products to beef them up. Are you able to stroke this engine? I've heard that the valvetrain should be beefed up if I want to start getting more power out of it, is this true? I really want this thing to pump out the power, but needs some help. Texas Jim
Long, long ago....in a galaxy far, far away... Edelbrock made 2 intakes for the 425, the STREETMASTER and the PERFORMER. The STREETMASTER was, as it's name implys..for the street. It gives more power at low to mid range RPM. 2500 to 5000 or so. The PERFORMER was for mid range (3500/4000) on up to about 6500/7000 RPM. Back then, there was a company in California that made cams for them. On my '78, I removed the cats, had TRUE DUALS installed, with an "X" pipe and ran a medium cam, with the STREETMASTER and a 650 Holley double pumper. It ran pretty well. I did not do anything to the valve train, but if you are going to run real high RPM (6000 +)...you are right. You need to beef up the valve train. Ed Hall
More information: http://members.tripod.com/~CadillacMan/79cadpage.html http://forums.500cid.com/showthread.php?t=1051 If you really want to pump up the power and longer stroke, go find a 500 Caddy engine for your car. There are tons more aftermarket parts for that engine.
95SevilleSLS
You know...I had a 75 eldorado that had a 500 in it, but I sold the car a couple of years ago because I needed the money...I'm regretting that now. -Dusty- - 02 Seville STS, white diamond - 93 Sixty Special, Tan with vinyl top - 79 Coupe DeVille, Tan with Tan top - 06 GMC Sierra Z71, Black - 92 Silverado C1500, black and grey - 83 Chevy K10 Silverado, Black and Grey

Do a search for "Joe Mondello" on the west coast. I have a 1966 Olds with a 425 in it. Got all my engine parts from him. He specializes in 400 403 425 & 455. Good luck Mario
