Since the antenna does come half way up, it's probably just stuck from lack of lubrication or a kink in the mast. Try spraying a little silicone down along the mast and turn the radio On and Off so the mast goes up and down. If the mast doesn't come all the way up you may need to gently assist it by pulling it up. It only takes a tiny stone or debris to jam the mast. If you're able to fully extend the antenna then make sure to wipe it down and lightly lubricate. As far as the dash problem goes BodyByFisher posted a successful HowTo for it. I'll post the link if I find it. "Burns" rubber " I've never considered myself to be all that conservative, but it seems the more liberal some people get the more conservative I become. Ranger
Go in the trunk and open up the antenna motor cover. DO NOT run the motor while it is open. The problem may become obvious. If not, pack it full of white lithium grease.
davedog
in regards to the antenna; back when I had my 89 DeVille, when I first got it the antenna wouldn't go up at all (stuck all the way down), but you could hear the motor going. My father-in-law and I pulled the motor & tore it apart, and the plastic "wire" that the motor 'winds' up and down had broken. We removed the broken off piece and reattached the remaining length of the wire. The result was that the antenna would now go up and down, just not all the way (from having a shorter wire). Maybe someone has done this repair? I know it doesn't solve the problem, but it might explain it... -dave Crystal Red Tintcoat Exterior | Shale/Brownstone Interior | 32k
