Check Cooland Level Light Stays On After checking and verifying coolant level

I have had the coolant level checked and added, but the light comes on and goes off. The car does not overheat. What could be the problem?

Check the wiring, if it is intact and the plug is in, you need a new coolant tank, the level sensor is not replacable separately from the tank, its an assembly, dumb, I know... Mike

The coolant overflow tank isn't cheap either, but that's probably a good thing. The hardest part about the job is getting the hoses off of it. The next hardest part is working out out through the tight space between the strut tower and the engine.

If your model doesn't have a "T" as the middle character, your engine is the 275 hp Northstar with the roller rockers. If it's a DTS, it's the 300 hp version. You can tell for sure by looking at the VIN far forward on the dashboard under the windshield on the driver's side. If the 8th character is a "Y" then it's the 275 hp. If it's a "9" then it's the 300 hp.

My 1997 FSM doesn't have accurate information on the 2000 Deville. Someone that does can post the process for changing the surge tank.
