Motor mount Shield

BUICK11

Recommended Posts

Bought our 2001 DTS in to dealer. THey found broken motor mount. I did some research and found a TSB that shows a heat shield that should be installed to prevent failure due to heat from the exhaust pipe.

as info the part numberfor the front mount is 2579455. the shield is 15804790. labor is listed at 0.80 hr.

TSB is dated 12/18/2006. #05-08-61-007A

Obtained from Alldata and gave to dealer.

All covered by GMPP Warranty

Hope this helps someone.

Frank

When my front motor mount went out, there was just a little more driveline "slack" until it beat out the wishbones, then there was a whole lot more driveline "slack" and the exhaust system hit the firewall when I nailed it.

I am getting a bang on moderate acceleration, I video taped my engine shifting with my foot on the brake and a high idle and will post it. I am going to buy a new mount next week and install it, the scrap yard did not have a used mount.

If you know that you have a bad motor mount on a FWD Northstar, it is probably the front, but you should check the wishbones too because they take the full load when the front motor mount goes bad.
