winterset
It was time to change my oil, & time to fix my "check oil level" message I have been seeing the last 2 years every time I start my car. Im my efforts to verify that Many caddy parts don't fail, they just get dirty, I took out the sensor & soaked it in Solvent, cleaned it up, along ith the electrical plug, reinstalled, filled up with Mobile 1 synthetic 10w-30, & now when I start the car, the message doesn't appear anymore. Hopefully the sensor lasts another 11 years. BTW, my alternator I "cleaned" in December has held up.

winterset
It looks like the one at the bottom of the picture (black stem). I soaked it in a ziploc bac with paint thinner, then gently shook it dry. there were no physical damage to it.

JimD
You are welcome Bruce. I would love to know how this sensor works A WAG tells me there is a float, a magnet and a switch involved in that oil level sensor. If you kept any of the defective parts, send them to me for an autopsy. Along with the defective input speed sensor from your transmission!! Jim Drive your car. Use your cell phone. CHOOSE ONE !
