100,000K Miles

On the way home to Indiana from Ohio I turned my car over to 100,000k miles! Ehhh it was something I put off having to do. 25.1 mpg avg! :DI think with the special care I've given this car it will run for atleast 300k miles!!Its never sat ouside and had premium everything for a premium luxury car. Oil, Gas, Wax ,etc One of the Devilles the 1990 I drove to right at 200k miles. Infact back in the 80's my aunt was a corprate exc and she drove her within 5 years to 300k . Then it was time for a new one. My old 1996 is still owned by a freind with a little over 200k on it.

I'm also considering getting an Esclade (o2 or newer) sometime before next winter . I never hear much on them in here. does anyone have anything to tell me i should know ? I know that consumer reports likes them!Yes I'm working on my 6th Caddy at a young age..

I would never buy another SUV again to save my life. Two kids and 2 rotts, so the room was needed. But gas mileage is around 13mpg average and gets too expensive. Mine was an 03 Durango I bought new, and I doubt the Escalade is any better on gas. You will be ticked how much a fill up is, and how often you need to do it. My Caddy is at 76k.................I will be happy if I get 150k out of it without a major repair. But I hope for 300k too.........lol.

My SLS in town driving gets 16.9 and its having to be filled up with the premium gas. so i just kinda thought it would balance its self out so to speak. I've always wanted a tuck thing...lol :D

mikeal1892,

I don't think you see many posts regarding Escalades - because they are primarily a GMC with Caddy trim and badging. It is a marketing compliment to Caddy of course, but not too many folks think of a SUV when Caddy is mentioned.

Another important technological achievement to consider is that 19" LCD monitors and associated entertainment systems that could take care of a small town - simply don't fit in a Caddy.

BTW, if you don't like the cost of premium gas, use regular. Unless you run it on a dyno or dragstrip, I doubt that you could tell the differance (unless you are determined to find a differance of course).

All IMHO, :D

Add power to leave problems behind. Most braking is just - poor planning.

Absolutely.

My '99 with 130k miles runs just fine on regular, and that's even in mexico !!

Trya '93 STS with 225,000! [tranny puked at 195,000 - dealer replaced with a Delco rebuilt - guaranteed 3 years or 50,000) I use Mobil 1 10w30, Mobil 1 filter # 206, never hit, original exhaust!, sunroof, Polo green, creme leather - looks new... Alpine stereo, just got new Goodyear RSA's...might need a power brake booster soon...but it runs strong...on a good day - might be worth 2k!...but it looks like more and I hope to get 275,000 out of it...then...2007 STS with V8, sunroof, blue chip, chrome wheels...

I bought my 94 Concours with 61,400 miles 5 years ago, with an oil leak. Now it has 141,000 miles and I hope to get at least 161,400 miles on it with the same oil leak. I put new shift solenoids, water pump, thermostat, a couple of coils, compressor, wires, and plugs. It still runs good with the occasional P056 code. I can not complain too much.

Paul T,

It seems we have much in common regarding Caddies.

I started driving my 1994 Concours at about 82,000 and its now over 184,000. Same half-case oil leak I suppose, but only a door lock actuator, front struts, tranny drain/refill and plugs for repairs (that I can recall). I think that tires and windshields are simply disposables, with perhaps struts and plugs as well.

I believe that your Concours is a rare dark Toffee color. Any pictures of your ride available?

In the old days we used to replace shock absorbers every 25,000 miles or so. A front strut is nothing more than a coil over shock, and the struts are subject to the same wear that shocks are. I personally believe they are shot at 50K to 60K miles and that might be pushing it. In our cars there is a electronically controlled damper valve that creates a restriction in the strut oil flow when conditions warrant it. Its a bigger job to replace the struts and the electronic struts are more expensive, but the are essentially the same in theory as the old shocks.

Actually it is maroon, I forgot about the door actuators, I did that. I really think that my oil leak is from the oil pan seal. I have been trying to get some time to repair it but it has not happened yet. I do not have any real good pictures. I know what you mean about the tires.

I only paid $6500 for it back then. It had some little quirky things wrong with it and the owner wanted to get rid of it. I had the quirky things fixed the first week I had it. My wife has a 92 Deville that she babies, so when I bought the 94 I told her I was going to drive the wheels off it. After she started driving my Northstar I do not get to drive it as often now. If I had not found this board and BBob though I do not know if I would have kept it. Thanks to all who have helped over the years.

I have always said, if not for this board and the knowledgeable people, the guru for imparting his knowledge, it would be overwhelming. Once you plug into this board, your apprehension goes away.

I would figure out what they go for and deduct $3000 for the head gasket job...

The seller is smoking something.....he's asking just about full retail price for a car that is not driveable...That car in the mechanical condition that it's in wouldn't be worth more than $3500......if the body/paint is in bad shape, it would be worth even less....

Yes, this is what I thought he claims its not totally bad yet, but i would be driving the car around like that. Hes had to add coolant every 17 days so he claims ! Thats crazy. Its in good shape but the leather was never cond ever :( I'm waiting to see how it cleanes up. The car lot where I worked has it and is going to run it to the auction like that i guess. the coolant tested pos for gases . From what they say. I'm always looking to buy though. Caddys are my weakness. Cant live with emm Cant live without one ! I may just have to wait another year for an 06 or newer. Have to check out consumer reports. I'm interested to see if Cadillac gets a better place in the market with the new products, but I'm also hearing they could be going belly up at the trouth soon. :D Time will tell.
