I will let Kevin address this, but, I believe that due to the ON/OFF cycling of the compressor, it might be possible for debris to back up into the compressor, I think that is the concern.

Yes the orifice tube acts like a filter also and its unlikely anything will pass it, it will just clog. The question however is, if it clogs, can that create problems with the compressor in itself?

I completely agree...it's never good to have trash in the system. I was just wondering...that if there is a piece or two clinging to life in the condenser (and I don't replace it), under what circumstance can it get in and harm the compressor. Maybe when you turn the car off, and the pressure "equalizes" in the system, can it actually flow "backwards", back into the compressor? Maybe, I don't know.

Kevin, what do you think? About back flowing?

That is how I understand that it may migrate through the system. The suggestion to run it for the summer and then check the o-tube is a good one.

Jason, that said?, a new condenser was about $200, I think if there is a chance you can damage your compressor (it might last 2 years before damage shows), I would replace it, buy it yourself and ask them to install it, when they flush the system, its pretty easy
