Edscadillac
Need help: As soon as the car warms up, my car dies. It also runs rough and varies the RPMs. Someone said it might be the choke sensor motor settings. Can someone provide information? Thank you
BodybyFisher
Check for DTC codes and post them here. Hold the OFF and WARMER buttons on the AC control, and write down the codes, Mike Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
Ranger
No such thing as a chock sensor motor. I suspect they are talking about the ISC (idle speed control) motor. In addition to what BBF said, clean the TB.

In addition to what BBF said, clean the TB. Yep, the bores and backsides of the plates. As the engine warms up the plates move to minimum air position and if there is carbon buid up it will restrict the air supply. BodybyFisher
Dear Sir, I followed your instructions and came up with the following codes: 1027 S044 PCM? That is all the information that was provided. Thanks again Assuming the 1 is an I its I027, I027 ........................................................ PRND321 switch failure S044 ..................................................... Lift or Dive Signal Fault I am not sure what affect the I027 will have. As Ranger said, clean your Throttle Body especially the rear and edges of the throttle plate and the throat. This could be a problem with your ISC motor where the closed throttle contact is dirty also. Do a search under ISC if I find the thread I will add it on here. Ranger
Mike, I think I027 can cause a no start as the switch can tell the PCM that the car is in gear during crank cycle. I'm sure it can have other effects as well. Not sure if it would cause it to die as mentioned in post #1.

That is what I was thinking, a NO START (neutral safety), I could understand, but a STALL... when warm, I don't know.... Ed Fenwick
Aloha Edward, When you shut the engine off, see if the accelerator pedal is moving of it's own accord. This will indicate that the ISC motor is running and hunting for an idle setting. The the motors are not very expensive and easy to change. Clea the throttle body anyway, that is always good to do. Good luck ED
