constant ticking

Recommended Posts

my 95 STS seems to make a constant ticking noise, much like a gas pump (some pumps I guess <_< ) I know it's likely something to do with suspension because the noise is there after the car is shot off untill maybe 2-3 minutes then goes away. Any idea what this might be?? or how I get rid of it. Maybe something to do with cold weather?? Really appreciate any ideas on this as it's driving me nuts  Maybe pulling my suspension fuse will do the trick

This description is too vague to determine what the problem is. Where is the ticking coming from? Are there any codes? It continues when the car is shut off for a few minutes? It stays on because it's powered by the retained power circuit, so it sounds electrical, does it sound like a relay ticking?

Listen to the under hood relay center, listen to the trunk relay center

Did you open the hood and listen to make sure it's not the radiator fan spinning and hitting something? Could it be the catalytic converter cooling? Is it the same type of sound heard from a parked car which sounds like something is cooling after being very hot?

Sounds like the suspension is settling. I get a sound from the springs too when it's cold.

no it's not coming from under the hood more like from the front and back which leads me to believe it's the suspension issue. There are no codes and I don't even get the "service ride control message" like on my last car. The noise is very similar to that of the ehaust cooling after driving but I can tell that's not it. The time delay between the ticks is almost always the same. I thing Jay may be right about the suspension setting but why does it happen whe I'm driving as well as when I park the car  Like I said I will try to pull the suspension fuse tommorow and see if it still does it.

Could an exhaust component be somewhat loose, and the ticking sound is the metal cooling?

Have you been under the car when it is ticking to try to locate the sound?
