Göran W
Will a 4,5 from Eldo -90 fit "plug´n play" in Allante -89? Anyone?
Logan
Seems like I remember the Allante had some kind of fancy intake....but I don't recall. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadillac_High_Technology_engine Quote Logan Diagnostic LLC www.airbagcrash.com www.logandieselusa.com www.ledfix.com www.ledfix.com/yukontaillightrepair.html www.ledfix.com/ledreplacements.html www.ledfix.com/j42385toolrental.html
Göran W
Yes, it does, but will that be an obstacle?
sonjaab
Prob gonna have to swap the intake. Sounds like a tuff job. I wonder if you would have to swap the PCM if you used the Allante stuff. Make me miss my v-8 GM of old........... Göran W
Swap intake? Why? Mechanical or electric differences?
Logan
"In 1987, a unique, more powerful engine was introduced in the Cadillac Allanté based on the same architecture. The Allanté 4.1 had a new, reinforced engine block that would later be used in the Cadillac 4.5, it used a different camshaft profile and roller lifters to provide for improved airflow, in addition to multiport fuel injection. This engine was rated at 170 hp (127 kW) at 4300 rpm and 235 lb⋅ft (319 N⋅m) of torque at 3200 rpm. Other than the basic architecture, the only thing the Allanté 4.1 shared with the HT4100 was the displacement, something easily changed in the engine family by simply using different diameter cast-iron cylinder liners." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadillac_High_Technology_engine#4.5 Quote Logan Diagnostic LLC www.airbagcrash.com www.logandieselusa.com www.ledfix.com www.ledfix.com/yukontaillightrepair.html www.ledfix.com/ledreplacements.html www.ledfix.com/j42385toolrental.html
Göran W
Thnx. I took it this was only valid for the 4,1 but You are probably right.
sonjaab
So then the idea if you could swap the 4.1 intake and setup for the 4.9s. (If possible and if so the wiring and plumbing will line up unless the heads/intAke dimensions are diff.) And swap the 4.1s PCM and .wire it up correctly. Just not a chore for the average weekend warror. Cost BIG money at a shop. Göran W
It is ALL about 4,5. Not 4,1 or 4,9.
sonjaab
SAME DIFFERENCE! You could swap out the 4.1s intake for the 4.5s. It might work but not sure.
