hal1992
I have a 1992 seville that has the check engine light on. After troubleshooting with my chilton's manual I have a code eo30 and eo98. I removed the ISC motor and took it apart and found no gears damaged. So I cleaned and greased and installed back on engine. I don't understand how to do the ISC adjustments. I am confused a bit about how to check the 13.4 degrees with ISC plunger extended. Will the 13.4 show on ecm override mode or on inputs or outputs? Also how do I check the volts of -0.5 - +0.5 on the TPS ?
Ranger
Chiltons and Haynes are far to generic for these cars. Get a REAL FSM by Helm Inc. Press on the ISC plunger. It should retract. When it bottoms out, unplug it. RPM should be around 450 or may even stall. Now adjust the plunger to throttle hammer gap to about .030. Plug the ISC motor back in and you should be all set. hal1992
Thanks for the tip on quicker adjustments of the ISC. So by setting the .030 gap will that put it at about 13.4 degrees? Also what about the TPS, do I need to adjust it or will it adjust by itself after I run a few times?
BodybyFisher
If you have not removed the TPS it should be ok Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
Ranger
So by setting the .030 gap will that put it at about 13.4 degrees? I'm not sure. I suspect the .030 gap puts it pretty close. Never heard of setting it to a degree.
hal1992
I finally figure it out. I went to library to look at service manual and it showed how to adjust to 13.4. While in ecm override and plunger extended, switch to ecm data es01 and the display will show what degrees it is. Then turn plunger until it reads 13.4 on display. Then do a TPS relearn and all done. Service light is out and car runs fine.
