water pump leak?

well i switched the wires and now no start,,

So you are 100% sure that all 4 wires are in the correct locations AND you have the A sensor in the A location and B sensor in the B location?

Did you disconnect the battery during all of this?

Any check engine lights?

Don't give up yet. Try pulling the diagnostic codes and see if anything turns up. It can be frustrating trying to figure out what's wrong...last year I spent over a month trying to track down a stalling problem (with help from here) so I know first hand how aggravating it can be. Don't hand it over to a garage until you have exhausted all possible things that YOU are capable of trying. The people on this forum are here to help others. It's what we do (though not me so much as most others, but regardless..). Don't consider yourself an annoyance!biggrin.gif

Are you sure you have the wiring correct? (the colors to the a and b terminals on the plugs?)

I was unaware when I pulled mine that the plugs were different I marked mine, as TOP and BOTTOM

Are you sure you have all of the grounds from the harness in place?

Dont give up yet

Just verify this,

Crank Sensor A - A terminal = PPL, B terminal = YEL

Crank Sensor B - A terminal = BLU/WHT, B terminal = BLK

Is this the same color scheme that the dealer gave to you?

When you went back were the crank sensors wired wrong?

Crank Sensor A - A terminal = PPL, B terminal = YEL

Crank Sensor B - A terminal = BLU/WHT, B terminal = BLK

allmost every wire thay gave me was wrong,,the only right one was yellow,,i noticed that on b sensor,i dont have blu/wht,,mine is a off white color with no line in it,and that was the last wire left,so i put blu/wht to the off white color,,all the other colors match,,thats why im confused,,i allways disconted the battery mike, and yes thay were wired differet when i switched them, when i pulled them out of the clips the 2 wires for each clip where stuck together, maybe from the tape?so when i put them together for the first time there was a yellow wire sticking from one of the clips,i remeber wiring the new clip just like the old clip with the yellow and the car ran,but i thinking the bottom was wrong, and thats why it ran like that

Steve, if the wiring that the dealer gave you was different than what I gave you we have a problem. The dealer's and MY color schemes should have been identical. What was the difference?, the colors or the locations?

First off, you have two distinct leads, so all 4 wires can not be mixed up, its 2 and 2 separate

We obviously know that PPL and YEL is crank sensor A, you just need to put PPL on the plug terminal A and YEL on plug terminal B

I tend to agree with you, if you have a BLK (black) wire on the other lead that the 'off white' is your BLU/WHT. So the 'off white' is terminal A and the BLK is terminal B. Is that how you have it hooked up?

I am going to scan the page you need so you can see for yourself. I have the 94 factory service manual.

If it seems that sometimes I am not responding directly to some of your statements, I am finding it difficult to follow your logic due to your writing style, I am sorry.

I hope you are able to follow my reasoning adequately to get this solved. Be sure of your connections.

Make sure your oil pressure switch connector is connected at the oil filter adapter, I forget the details right now, but there is a backup facility to energize the fuel pump that might cause starting problems. I need to look at the manual for the detail on that.

Once you are sure that you have all four wires connected A/B, A/B correct and all connectors are in place, see if she starts. I am really hoping that reversing the wires didnt fry a crank sensor, ICM or PCM.

my buddy found the real clips with the wire code on the clips, there more like plug and play,,i got aftermarket ones before,,maybe there not going in all the way,i see my old ones are there a little longer,,napa part number tsc 200,,there just like clips with all the wiring colors on them,,yes!this will make it easy and we can narrow it down with clips in the right slot,,,,the cadillac dealer told me both clips are the same, but i couldnt get the a in the b and so on,

That's much better. Always use OEM parts Steve. This is the better way to go because if you ever remove the crank sensors again, you will have a visible color scheme. I had not realized that the A and B plugs were keyed A and B so you could not mix them up, I thought they were the same. I will look at the manual for the shape of the plugs and sensor connectors. Interesting. I marked the wires when I removed them.

Its funny this is not the first time I have seen these wires ripped off, we had another member do the same thing.

Those dont sound like the right plugs.

Be sure the A wiring harness goes to the A sensor, and same with B

I hope you get this straightened out. I have an urge to sell you my 94 manual, but it comes in to handy for me with 94/95 OBD1 Northstars, but I would advise buying a factory service manual after this

ok,,im glad to thanks mike,,she started right up,,and sounded nice,is the heatercore tuff to get to?

The heater core is easy, its behind your glove compartment. Buy a direct AC Delco replacement, they are not expensive. I am not surprised it went, as you tighten up your cooling system the weakest link is next to go...

I am relieved that your car finally started and ran good!

Mike

You are welcome, let us know how your heater core goes. Take the glove compartment out, and you should be able to see a door.

If anyone has done the heater core on a 94 please post your experience, thanks

i got the info mike thanks,,

One of the difficult parts of this job will be getting the 2 hoses off of the core under the hood, there is not a lot of room, they are custom hoses so don't cut them.

Just take your time taking those hoses off and be careful not to disturb anything else (vacuum hoses, electrical connections)

sure,,first thing i did was unbolt the 6 star bolts from around and in the box,and just pulled the glovebox out easy,u will need a screw driver and carefully slide out the metal clip on back of the box,put your glovebox aside, then i removed the bottom plasic piece from the bottom,if im right its 3 bolts, then if u look in the glove box u will see silver box,on the bottom of that box there is 3 wires, blue, red, the other im not sure, just pinch and pull out them 3 wires, dont worry thay all go in the own way when u put them back, take a 10 mil wrench and unbolt the silver box,,its just 1 bolt, carefully pull it down threw the bottom, put it somewhere safe!,then u will see one more thing is in your way,,its a black box kinda round, take a screw driver and pop the rod out from the top of the box,and push the rod to the side, there is 1 or 2 bolts to unbolt this round black box, this box has 4 color hoses on the top,u dont need to mess with them, just carefully work the box to the bottom,it doesnt need to come out, just low enough to get to the heatercore box,,theres 2 or 3 bolts on the heater box, take them out and open your heatercore box,,,there she is!,,,dont unbolt it till u work your 2 hoses off,,,,,,good luck
