mreperf
It started shuting off while driving and would restart somtimes right away and other times it took some cranking and would stay running fine. Last night it took 30 mins. to go 10 miles. And this was the first time when it died the shift light idicator was flashing and also said "theft system problem - car may not restart". It started fine this morning but died just after 2 minutes. It restarted but I left it there. Where is a good place to start? No check engine light on at all. Put new fuel pump assembly and relay in last summer. Thanks
Texas Jim
If you have another key...try it, instead of the one you are using. The theft system may not be reading the key correctly.
BodybyFisher
Check for DTC codes. Go to www.caddyinfo.com, go to HOW TO, go to DTC CODES, follow the directions for your year and post the codes here, that will help us. Its possible that you have two problems Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
mreperf
Fixed. After putting on a remote fuel pressure gauge, I found it would just loose all pressuse and either come right back on or not and stall out. Since I put a new pump assembly in back last summer along with a relay, I was pretty sure that wasn't it. It was the metal wire connector to the relay. Maybe got a little hot when the pump was dying last year and just opened up. Pulled it out, pinched it back up and all better.
