tannertaylormusic
Thick black wire with a metal cap on top. hadn't noticed it there before. Wondering if it came loose from something else. It also has a funky looking plastic black clip attacked to it. See pics. What is this thing?

Sorry, I'm a bit of a noob lol If it is hanging loose, you can tie wrap it to something near the throttle body or whatever is close nearby to stop it from flopping Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
winterset
It should have a clip around the hose section, and the clip is connected to the metal plate that the gas petal & cruise cable go through. The clip is one of those found around the corrogated plastic hose that you find wireing harnesses encased in. The wire harness is connected to the car using the clip you need. I hope this is clear. You can probably just get away with securing it to the plate ir another cable with a zip tie.
