stevenbro@rogers.com
Has anyone had a problem with their Navigation system after getting their windows tinted? I was thinking of getting the windows in Caddy tinted and found this warning in the Navigation Manual: Notice: Do not apply after-market glass tinting to the vehicle’s windows. Glass tinting will interfere with the system’s ability to receive GPS signals and cause the system to malfunction. You might have to replace the window to correct the problem. This would not be covered by your warranty.

BodybyFisher
The metallic tints are the problem http://www.universal...Automotive.html NO Transmission Interference! Some metallised window films can distort Radio, Mobile Phone and GPS navigational signals in your vehicle. 3M Black is manufactured without metal and therefore will not interfere with Radio, Mobil Phone and GPS navigation signals Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
Texas Jim
If you have a 2004 STS... I am not 100 % sure...but...I think the antenna for the NAV system is under the dash pad on the passengers side. That being said...and if that is true...as long as you "DO NOT" use a tint that has metal in it, I don't see where you would have a problem. As you can see in my sig pic... I have all windows tinted (except the windshield) on my 2006 DTS and have never had a problem with my NAV system working correctly.
stevenbro@rogers.com
Excellent information...Thank-you. In case the guys at the tinting place aren't as knowledgeable as they should be about their tint, is it obvious to see when looking at a tint sample whether it has metal in it? ted tcb
My 2003 STS has factory navigation and a fairly deep tint. My tint is not metallic, and the nav unit works fine. Having said that, the dvd is pretty out of date, missing lots of street names. My old Magellan hand held unit is far more accurate at choosing routes and adapting to route changes. Does anyone know (sorry if its off topic) if a newer GM dvd disc will work on the 2003 STS system? 1989 FWD Fleetwood, Silver 1995 STS Crimson Pearl on Black leather 1997 STS Diamond White 1999 STS Crimson Pearl 2001 STS Silver 2003 STS, Crimson Pearl

I do not know if the 2005 disk will work in your 2003 or not. I would just call them at 877-628-3472 Sorry, I do not know any more.
