How accurate is the MPG average display in the 2000+ devilles?

I have checked mine numerous times. 2006 DTS

It is pretty accurate.

The best way to check "YOURS" is to fill up, reset it to "ZERO", along with your GALLONS USED indicator, write down your mileage and drive till you need fuel again.

Then use a calculator and divide ACTUAL MILES DRIVEN by ACTUAL GALLONS USED to determine how accurate it really is.

If all of your injectors are clean very accurate

The fuel used calculation counts the number of times the fuel injectors are opened/pulsed to arrive at the fuel usage; I suppose slightly higher actual usage than shown indicates a SLIGHTLY leaking injector.

Start with fuel used, MPG cleared

If it is out of whack it can also be a bad FPR. I remember the guru saying that the best way to check is to use the same pump, park in the same spot when refueling, let the pump cut off and to refuel SEVERAL times to get a fair statistics. That is how accurate the MPG is. I wouldn't bother about a couple of percents. More than that would indicate some kind of problem with the fuel system.
