There is now a fuel station in Spring Valley, New York that sells E85 fuel. There are still NO E85 fuel stations in New Jersey. However, I called the Spring Valley station and asked their price for E85 fuel, $3.39/gallon. Heck I paid $3.59/gallon for regular gasoline just a few days ago and since there's less energy in E85 and thus about 20 percent lower fuel economy, it seems unlikely that paying 20 cents a gallon less is worth it. As an added note, New York State taxes all fuels heavily so that might explain the high price for E85 in Spring Valley, New York.

If you really want to make people safe drivers again then simply remove all the safety features from cars. No more seat belts, ABS brakes, traction control, air bags or stability control. No more anything. You'll see how quickly people will slow down and once again learn to drive like "normal" humans.

If you can find it, it is WAY cheaper here....

OK, I'll be sure to drive to Wisconsin from New Jersey to get cheaper E85 fuel.... :P;)

I'm looking for E85 because I want to see how 105 octane behaves in my FlexFuel engine. I can get E85 out by my cousin in Pennsylvania and I will fuel up with it when I visit him but I was hoping for a closer station (he's 255 miles away). 20 cents per gallon difference is not impressive.

Marika,

I could be wrong... but my understanding is...

You may have good power, but your mileage will drop about 15 to 20 percent.

Keep us informed about the results. I for one, am curious. :D

You're not wrong. I know there's approximately a 20% drop in fuel economy which is why saving 20 cents on the gallon is not worth it.

Don't forget to figure in that you are using 85% less gas though with E85, since 85% of the mix is ethanol -- so even if you break even on cost vs mpg it is a win for the environment. Ethanol is a renewable resource.

I do suspect that in the future the cost of ethanol and E85 will be significantly less though.
