Recommended Posts

I am currently void of belts (alt., a/c, power steering, etc)...disintegrated during the ride home this afternoon. Any tips or tricks to replacing them?

This is only one belt, the serpentine belt. Here is a link to a post with a diagram of routing of the serpentine belt by Bodybyfisher. You might read the whole thread, and do a search on "serpentine" to look at other threads, for more perspective on checking out what caused the serpentine belt to shred. Reasons include mover 100,000 miles without a belt change, loose or dragging idler or other pulley, or damage.

If you can find it, try to find the Goodyear Gatorback belt, I like it a lot..

Don't forget to check the condition of the water pump belt, and that its tensioner is moving freely.

The belt is easy to change, and is likely due.

All done. :D

Total cost was $40.00 & change (and some hand cleaner) for both belts...and I did go with the Gatorbacks. Just in time for my roadtrip to LA next weekend, to watch my Cubbies have their way with the Dodgers.

How did you like the Gatorbacks, was it the Poly V?

According to ESPN radio this is the first time in 100 years the Cubs are in first place on June 1, now keep those fans from interfering.

Not sure how to evaluate the gatorbacks. Haven't taken the car for a spin since installing them. I hear they're supposed to be quieter and last longer...time will tell. The trip from here to LA will give me plenty of opportunity to see if I can hear a difference.

Re: Cubbies...yes, it's true. First time since 1908 they've had the best record in the Big's at this date. And, in case you live under a rock and weren't aware, it's been 100 years since they won a World Series too! Coincidence? (insert Twilight Zone theme here)

It's still relatively early and the Yankees usually turn it up as the season progresses and come on, Tampa Bay in first?!. Literally ANYTHING can happen on any given day. So, until that fat lady starts singing, it ain't over 'til it's over.

I like your optimism, but keep in mind that the RAG SAWX are ahead of us... as much as I hate them, they are a scary team

The Red Sox are now officially less scary. Big Papi is gone...prolly for the season.

True, but the yankees took Jaba out of relief and put him into the starting rotation. Andy Petitit looked terrible last night giving up 3 leads. They are done, time to rebuild.
