Speed Sensor Fault

Got the speed sensor fault, and assume it is with the sensor itself. Is there a problem with the wires to the speed sensor? Got it from a friend that sometimes the wires are at fault, although , the speedometer is bouncing....

There are two speed sensors the ISS (input shaft speed sensor) and the VSS (vehicle speed sensor). Your last couple of words that the speedometer is bouncing tells me it is the VSS. Its located on the top of the right output shaft.

I've found that coolant coming out of the surge tank overflow can wet the speed sensor, which is on top of the right half-shaft. Turn the steering wheel to the left and you will find that you can reach it from the ground and make sure the connector is tight, and clean it if necessary.

Here is a cutaway view of the 4T80-E you will see the sensor on top of the output shaft, it's designated as the "OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR", remove one bolt, disconnect the electrical connector, and pull it gently straight up. Lube the new oring with trany fluid and reverse the procedure, Mike

It should be just fine when it dries out. Just wipe off the connector and smell the rag; if you smell coolant, you might rinse it with water, clean it and put it back on. If that doesn't do it, you have the sensor on hand.

I dont even know if that would have helped, the position it was in, although being on the floor didnt help either!

Want to know a rough one?, R&Ring the electrical connector on the oil pressure switch.

I did this job during the summer on the ground, I blew out my knee from getting up and down and kneeling

This is not related to S030, your code is related to the steering. The code discussed in this thread is related to the vehicle speed sensor used for the speedomter and as a secondary speed sensor if the ISS sensor fails in the transmission.
