Just curious about members comments on the following,,,,,,,

I recently traded my '99 Standard Deville (best car I have ever owned)

on a '05 Deville DTS.

I have notice the following differences and am somewhat disappointed.

With the base price of an '05 DHS or DTS being over $51,000, I can not imagine it

lacking some of the features of the older models.

No trunk pull down

I have heard about the safety issues (law suits) but several manufactures still offer it.

No dimmers on the front vanity mirrors

No rear door lock buttons

No automatic emergency brake release when taken out of park

This was really hard for me to get use to.

Also other items………..

No wood on the back of the DHS seats after 2002.

Drive By Wire

The Corvette got it 1997, why did it take Cadillac until 2006 to incorporate it?

Road Sensing Suspension

The Corvette's is adjustable, and it does make a difference.

I am disappointed in the ride quality of the '05.

I realize it is a performance suspension but it seems that every small bump is

transmitted through to the console where I usually rest my knee.

Are you sure, yours is just not inoperative? I cannot imagine them doing away with that. That would truly piss me off.

No trunk pull down

I think they did away with that in 2000. I liked it but can live without it.

No dimmers on the front vanity mirrors

Can't recall if my '03 has them or not.

Raise the price and cheapen the product. Soon it will be a Chevy with Cadillac emblems.

There was a side mention of them having a new electric parking brake release coming out in the 09 CTS, but it was not ready for the 08.

I suspect that they have moved more things off vacuum control, and the parking brake control suffered from the transition?

The trunk release thing is neutral to me; I worried over it getting broken more than I enjoyed it in use.

They went to electronic parking brake release by '99 at least. Perhaps earlier.

The Seville was electric release in '98.

Plus, if the gear selector was not in Park, the E Brake pedal would not latch, or hold, in the applied position.

Bowtie123,

I have a 2006 DTS Performance Sedan... the equivilent to the 2005 DTS.

It is drive by wire.

The parking brake does "NOT" release automatically. It should. You push it once to set it...push it again to release it.

It does ride fairly rough for a Cadillac and the suspension is "NOT" adjustable. It should be adjustable. I do really like the way it handles and performs. What tires do you have and what is the pressure?

No trunk pulldown. I always liked that.

Just went and checked... vanity lights are not adjustable. They should be.

I really like the car overall, but......... I would like it even more if it had more of the little touches that make a luxury car a "TRUE LUXURY" car.

Sticker on this one was $55,935. You should get more nice little things for that amount of money.

Hi Jim,

I still have the factory tires which are the Michelin 235/55/17

I run them at 32 lbs cold.

I had replaced the Michelins on my '99 with Goodyear Confort Treads

and they were really great.

When the time comes I'll probably go with Goodyears again.

The Base price on my '99 was around $38,000 and with all the options

(Memory Seats, CD Changer, Padded Roof, Gold Package) it was under $42,000.

I like the '05, just miss the options my '99 had.

The MSRP on the '05 was $58,940.

Added to it were an EG Classics grill, fender and rocker panel moldings and

side molding stainless steel, cloth top, Vogue Rio Wheels, and the Gold Package.

I brought it in July with 15,800 miles for $25,300, with 21 months of factory warranty left.

I would have never done all the EG Classic stuff or the Vogue wheels, but after a while

I am getting to like it. At first I wanted to swap out the grill and wheels for stock items.

I am looking forward to washing and Zaino tomorrow. It has not been done in over 2 months

as we have had no rain up until last Wednesday.
