Overheating issues.... please help

I have a 98 seville sls and around 130k it started to over heat. So i got the therostat, water pump, belt and radiator replaced. There is no visible leaks and it still overheats at a consistant rate. it seems as if my coolant is not flowing constitantly but i really cant tell. So what should i do next? do you think its probably my motor, my heater core, or a different issue? Im really lost right now guys.

Have your mechanic check the coolant for exhaust gases, which would indicate a blown head gasket. You can also get a test kit from an auto parts shop and do the test yourself if you prefer. Don't accept that it has a head gasket issue unless they test it.

An alternate test is to blow shop air into a cylinder and observe the overflow bottle for air bubbles. The exhaust gas test kit seems more sure to me.

If it is not the head gasket, you have to examine each part of the cooling system to determine what is not working. Perhaps the fans are not coming on, perhaps there is some flow blockage, etc.

I was hoping that it wasnt blown heads. I believe that the person that had the car prior to me buying it place a lot of heavy duty stop leak in the radiator. Both of the fans are fuctioning properly but it seems as if no coolant is flowing into the engine but im not exactly sure what could be blocking it from flowing. Any ideas? Could blown heads cause this type of issues? Thanks Guys

Yes, a bad head gasket could cause this and in fact is typical. That said, a surge tank cap not holding pressure could as well. Likewise a clogged purge line, especially if the previous owner used "a lot of heavy duty stop leak in the radiator", but then you have to ask yourself, why?

As Bruce said, have your cooling system tested for hydrocarbons in the cooling system. A good radiator shop can do that or you can buy a test kit from NAPA, no sense in guessing here, just cut to the chase. You could also have the cooling system pressurized to see if it holds pressure. How long have you owned it and how much did you pay for it?

Ive onwned it for about 4 months but i barely drive it because i have the 97 model. I paid about $4,000 for it and i planned on giving it to my sister once she gets her drivers license. I will take it to a radiator shop and have them to test it for me. Ill keep you guys updated. Thanks for everything

Based on your other SMOKE thread forget the tablets, have a radiator shop check the coolant for hydrocarbons and pressure test the cooling system, the smoke you are getting is not a good sign at all.
