Turn signal mirrors

1998 Seville LED Mirrors

Replacement mirror GLASS ONLY spec'd. for a 2004 Deville:

Left = Electrochromatic, heated, LED turn signal 88892971

Right = Heated, LED turn signal 88892970

The mirror glass snaps out to release the back of the glass from the

plastic shafts that connect to the tilt motors. Installing the new

glass takes some practice as you must have 3 items in the proper

position and then use a good bit of force to snap the plastic pieces

together. Do the RH mirror first; it was easier. I snapped them together

by placing the mirror housing, glass side down, on top of a towel on

top of a piece of 1 X 4 cut to support the glass. Then bang down hard

on the opposite side of the mirror housing with the meaty end of your fist.

Tap into the turn signal wires buried under the RF door sill. BOTH

left and right turn wires are in this wire bundle; right = dark blue

and left = light blue.

I'm leaving out a lot of details dealing with removing door panels and

snaking wires out to the mirrors. The reasoning is anyone undertaking

this project would not be intimidated by removing whatever parts need to

be removed and or modified to attach a few wires.

This is a very interesting mod. I like the arrow indicators on the mirror, and I supposed that this was what you were showing in the pic before, but I am not clear which years have that stock and which do not. It looks like you did a good installation.

I likewise do not remember what year GM starting adding this to cars. But my '04 DTS has them.

Soon after I bought the '04 I noticed the mirror housings were a slightly different design compared to the '98 Seville. But the glass was exactly the same size. So when the electrochromatic portion of the mirror on the '98 started to bubble, I bit the bullet and bought the '04 pieces.

And I'll bet the mirror glass is the same size on Sevilles '98 to '04, and Devilles '00 to '05. And possibly others.

Nice. Now if I can find the auto folding mirrors from an exported car. ;)

You know, when I had my 95 I always wondered why they couldn't have the export features as options on the US models. The 95 had headlight washers on the export models, I wanted that!

My '03 has them.

Texas Jim has electric folding mirrors on his 06 DTS.

NICE!

Heated exterior rearview mirrors, power-adjustable, with power-folding, driver-side auto-dimming, and integrated turn signal indicators

it was a new standard feature added to the DTS in 2006 on the 1SD Lux II and 1SE Performance versions, and continues on the 2007 model.
