Screen shot - snap shot

Recommended Posts

How do you take a screen shot (not sure if that's what it's called?) of say your desk top or any page on your desk top? I've seen people put on the web what their desk top looked like or a snap shot of say a test result. How is that done?

To copy the desktop to the clipboard push the Print Screen key. To copy the current window to the clipboard hold down alt then print screen. Paste from the clipboard image into paint or other image editing software to save as a image file.

Hit print screen, then go to where you want to insert it (word, paint, etc) and paste it.

Hehee.... you certainly have a lot of questions concerning PCs. If you really want quick and detailed answers then I would suggest Googling (www.google.com) your queries. Now I know how to create a screenshot but it would be a whole lot easier for me to direct you to a website with line by line directions. Try this link: http://graphicssoft.about.com/cs/general/h...nscreenshot.htm

That website was the 2nd one listed when I typed " screen shot " on Google. A lot quicker than posting on here and waiting for an answer.

Thanks guys! I figured it was simple to do. I never knew before what that key did.

Regis, I would have googled it if I had known what it was called for sure. I just guessed screen shot. Yes, google is my friend. :)

Does anyone know of any good pc forums they can recommend where I can get help with any future pc questions/problems? I looked at one, and it was apparently full of butt-heads.

Yeah many of those sites/forums aren't as helpful as they would seem. Especially if all you want is the information and not the bs and drama. Try this site to get started: www.whatis.com

A few years back, when I was a big game head, it was very helpful. Back when it was possible to hog more of the local resources and websites didn't/couldn't control ping rates. Ok where was i again? Oh yeah... whatis.com will teach you everything from terminology to detailed breakdowns. Great links from the site too. At least the last time I checked they were. Enjoy!

Thanks Regis! I'll be sure to check that site out. I have lots to learn. Hopefully I'll be building my own rig next time around. ;)

It's pretty obvious I've worn out my welcome here with all my pc questions. :) I knew I could trust you guys here was all, reason why I posted here.

The 19th Hole is a good location for your questions, I don't think you have worn out your welcome. You got the answer from bruce in 9 minutes....

Thanks Mike. When I stated I thought I had worn out my welcome with my pc questions, I was referring to this thread, post #99: http://caddyinfo.ipbhost.com/index.php?sho...amp;#entry90446

I never did get a reply to those questions. Days later with no replies, after a bump even, I reverted to talking to myself. Earlier on in that thread, people were jumping out the woodwork to help, which btw, was greatly appreciated. And that was dealing with my pc crashing, which was much more involved and difficult than my unanswered USB questions. Anyhow, no big deal, as I figured out the answers to those questions on my own. I realize I was asking a ton of questions and was probably getting on other's nerves. So no worries. Thanks for the kind words though. :)

I looked at that question and assumed the USB board would be downward compatible but didn't want to commit myself. Its possible that many felt the same way. Its possible that you exhausted the groups experience. I have started many thread that I felt were interesting that no one responds to and wonder why sometimes but, maybe its interesting to me only... Like the GET CARTER post in this thread, I think that chase scene involving a 2000 Seville STS is amazing, NO ONE replied... Very Odd.. But what I say is F it...maybe I like odd things

Glad you go the computer running again.
