KHE
If you are referring to the updated crest - where the ducks and the top of the crown were deleted, that was first used on the 2002 model year cars. MAC
I just bought this old style emblem on eBay for $49.99 for my new grille. I tend to like the old style better. It's metal so it should last a while.

Regards, Warren There is no means of avoiding the final collapse of a boom brought about by credit expansion. The alternative is only whether the crisis should come sooner as the result of a voluntary abandonment of further credit expansion, or later as a final and total catastrophe of the currency system involved. - Ludwig von Mises
Poobah
Here's a site with some interesting info regarding this discussion . . . . http://home.iag.net/~middlebr/crest.html Very interesting link. Thanks for the post. Since Cadillac engines were used in WWII tanks, I've always suspected that the use of the "V" with the badge in the post war years was intended to tug the public's patriotic heart strings ("V" for victory) in addition to the engine reference. Cadillacs had been powered by V-type engines for thirty years when the "V" appeared. Happiness is owning a Cadillac with no codes.
