adallak
did you check the antifreez/water ratio? The saddest thing in life is wasted talent
Dan
It could be, the only way to know for sure would be to run a compression test, or pressurize one of the cylinders by putting air in through the spark plug hole. It may not be a bad head gasket, you might be simply overheating.
Ranger
Does the overflow tank smell like exhaust when it's running?
jschunke
You must be one of those glass-half-empty kind of guys. The engine overheats and figure it's a blown head gasket. If the top hose is cool then it's just a bad thermostat stuck closed.
Ed Fenwick
Aloha Turk, This may not be a problem. Mine was doing this for a few weeks. Every day when the engine was cold, I checked the radiator, not the water overflow bottle. I added when it was low and after a while, ( the air inside) went away. All is good now. Keep an eye on the temperature and if it isn't getting hot, see what happens in two weeks or so. Ed
