How to get to the ECM

My 92 Cadillac Eldorado is having some communication problems it seems I keep getting codes indicating the IPC and ECM are not communicating, this happens intermittently while the car is running. Also battery voltage seems to fluxuate a lot while driving going form around 12 volts to 14.1 it should stay around 13.8 to 14.5 correct?

Fluxuating battery voltage will play havoc with your electronics; FIX THAT FIRST!

Check battery connectors/cables/grounds etc.

There is no means of avoiding the final collapse of a boom brought about by credit expansion. The alternative is only whether the crisis should come sooner as the result of a voluntary abandonment of further credit expansion, or later as a final and total catastrophe of the currency system involved. - Ludwig von Mises

I've been thinking that but all the connections seem pretty clean, no buildup or anything. Also when the code is present and I run the DTC test it will say no ECM data. But yes the battery voltage fluxuates a lot what is a good battery to get do I need something with a lot of cranking amps to keep all the electronics happy or what?

The most likely culprit is a bad battery cable connection. You have three hot and two ground connections. I would start by cleaning the battery terminals and battery cables and tightening them carefully by hand. If that doesn't clear everything up, check the grounds to the engine and to the chassis. Then, check the hot to the alternator. It sounds liike the hot to the starter and to the main fulse block are OK.

Alrighty I will check all that, I am now working on another problem. The Bose Gold speaker in the passenger door is going in and out and will sometimes make a loud scream noise. I took off the grill and took the speaker out and have found that the amp is not tightened securely and when I push down on the amp the speaker sounds fine and does not have any problem so I am thinking there is just distortion from the amp no secured or could there be another problem going on.

If the battery cables are ok..

On a '92? 4.9L? Clean the ground at the engine block mounted to the engine block above the starter. Will cause crazzzy stuff...

I know sounds crazy a 92 that is still pretty clean, well the guy I bought it from has had it garaged most of its life with the battery disconnected.
