decosse
My throttle has been sticking a little occasionally (quick blip of throttle pedal usually brings idle back down) Well, stupidly removed the plate without really checking which way it came out. So .... looking into the TB, when you insert the butterfly plate, should raised dimples be facing out towards you, or in towards the manifold side? Appreciate anyone's help! It looks like the raised dimples in (and also the stamped number) towards the manifold; there wasn't a huge amount of difference, but it seems to seal a little tighter that way round - there is possibly the finest of tapers on the edges that makes more sense in that orientation also. It did hunt a little with the dimples out, better now. Still appreciate a confirmation if anyone knows for sure.
Ranger
I am just going from memory here so don't hold me to this, but I think the dimpled side goes inboard.
Barry94
My throttle has been sticking a little occasionally (quick blip of throttle pedal usually brings idle back down) This is also a symptom of the ISC points getting dirty. The points are closed when you release the throttle. When the ISC points get dirty, contact is not made and the computer does not go to "idle" mode, which results in the rpms remaining high. BodybyFisher
Let me ask, you removed the two screws holding the plate to the rod? I thought those screws were peened/staked and where hard to take out? Did you have a hard time taking the screws out? Be sure they are secure, you might want to use thread lock on them to ensure they don't back out and get into the induction system. BUT be sure the thread lock is not a problem for the O2 sensors and use it sparingly. Mike This is also a symptom of the ISC points getting dirty. Yes, definitely don't want these coming out again - no worry there on that point! See this excellent thread for ISC cleaning and inspecting by Barry94, Mike http://caddyinfo.ipbhost.com/index.php?sho...e+speed+control I'll see how it performs over next week or so - I'm less inlcined to think it's the ISC - it really doesn't hunt or randomly go to different speeds when actually at idle - pretty much just sticks at an elevated rpm & as I mentioned quick blip clears it. Sounds more like the plate sticking but we'll see! Definitely one to book-mark though!
BodybyFisher
How did you find cleaning it by taking the plate out? decosse
How did you find cleaning it by taking the plate out? It made it easier to access cleaning the plate & the TB - just cleaned up with some carb/TB cleaner & a toothbrush & rag. So far so good - haven't put too many miles since cleaned so will report back later on how effective the cleaning was.
Ranger
If your throttle is sticking so you have to give it a "quick blip" to release it, something is definately wrong. I'd check it closely. Maybe you need to spray out the throttle plate shaft better.
