confusion
some of you may have read my thread about my disasterous egr valve replacement. worked on the car for several days, etc. one of the brackets that tightens down the fuel rail was bent slightly. i straightened it and the vaccum leak was gone. at this point the deville had developed a serious skip. i'd replaced the plugs, wires, cap, cleaned the egr and tp. turns out that the distributer cap was bad, even though it was new. took a garage to figure that one out! i never considered it even though i know that new parts can be bad. the car's running great. thanks guys for all the help. the detonation/ spark knock thing is gone, so, i'm not complaining. learned an expensive lesson here(and a whole freaking lot about my car). thanks adallac for the rockauto website. for some reason the tps went bad during this project and their price was $32 compared to advance's $52. body by fisher was a great help to me also. thanks guys. joe

adallak
Glad the car is better than ever! Yes, we often assume that new is good, but it is not. I would learn nothing about my car either if it did not give me hard time from time to time. The saddest thing in life is wasted talent
BodybyFisher
mack, do me a favor and post your final conclusion at the end of the long thread we developed, so that when a member searches it, they can see the results of all of your hard work. Posting an orphan thread like this will get lost.. Even cut and paste your words above into the main thread, Thanks, Mike Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
