meetwagon
I recently bought a '73 Caddy hearse, and in order to get it safetied, the windshield wipers need to work. The switch is located on the drivers door, was that factory in '73, or is it more likely aftermarket? The wiper motor will only work when I push the washer button, and only slow speed. I called a parts store to ask about a wiper motor, and they asked if mine was a phase one or phase two. Does anybody know the difference? Any help would be appreciated. KHE
The driver's door is the factory location for the wiper controls. You really need to find a wiring diagram to properly troubleshoot the problem. You might check ebay for factory service manuals - I have seen early 1970s manuals on there many times. Search "Cadillac service" or "Cadillac shop manual". Kevin '93 Fleetwood Brougham '05 Deville '04 Deville 2013 Silverado Z71
BodybyFisher
I would inspect the switch, if the motor runs its not likely the motor. I have seen the wires between the door and the body be a problem, but I would check the switch first to see if you are getting power and if you can successfully jump it to start the wipers.
