chazglenn3
Did Cadillac make any improvements on the head gasket issues with the 2000 model year redesign? I don't seem to see as many occurances of failed head gaskets on these. Maybe they are just still too new... Charles Charles
BodybyFisher
Charles, I don't know that answer for sure, but I do know that the timesert kit for the year 2000 is different....here is the wording from the timesert site: NorthStar 2000 M11x1.5 Headbolt This block is similar to the 4.0/4.6 but has two depths for the headbolts 32mm upper bank and 51mm lower bank. See the link: http://www.timesert.com/html/gm.html Note that the kit changed in 2004 also when the bolt was changed to M11x 2.0 Headbolt Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
Ranger
I think they lengthened the head bolts.

chazglenn3
Of course not!!! I know that there is a WEALTH of information here! I just recall from being here before that he pretty much knew the N* inside and out. Did something happen that I am unaware of?? (I can't believe that I spelled Cadillac wrong before...yes, I have been away too long ) Charles Charles
BodybyFisher
We will never replace him but each of us has a piece of his legacy, en mass, we combine bits and pieces of his posts. When I listen to the old timers here, they play him back verbatim. Don't get me wrong, we miss him, especially for the type of question that you asked. He was a source of incredible knowledge on the NS. Everytime I find his posts I put the information in a bbob word doc. If he ever comes back again, you can be sure that I will do a LOT of cutting and posting of his posts, this happened on the OLD OLD board also. Its funny to think that this is a third generation caddyinfo board... Thank you too BodybyFisher! Charles Yea, unfortunately as BBF said, he is gone (not by choice) but not forgotten and deeply missed. I think I have seen him on cadillacforums under another name but only very, very occasionally.
