cadi196
Does anyone happen to know where I can get both rear knuckles for my '96 Deville. Both upper bushings are bad, so my rear end sways back and forth when driving at 30 mph or higher. I have a used set, so really I am just looking for the bushings. They are pressed in and I can not get them from Advance Auto, where I work. These are dealer items only and the dealer says I can only get it as a unit. Knuckle and bushing together. They want $411 a side. Any help would be appreciated. I really dont have the $822 to buy these from the dealer. Chris

BodybyFisher
I have the same problem with my 96. The replacement knuckle assemblies are prohibitively expensive at somewhere around $350? Let me make something VERY CLEAR. The upper JOINT is NOT a BUSHING as we are all so easily calling it, including myself until I got educated. The link above is for a BUSHING....that is the wrong solution, be warned. The upper joint is a CROSS AXIAL BALL JOINT which is used because the rear suspension changes its geometry as it moves through its range of motion. I contacted MOOG to get them to produce replacement solutions to our problem. See this thread, I updated everyone in my last post, there are photos in this thread showing the AXIAL ball joint and what it looks like, go to the above link and you will see its not the same. My contact at MOOG has promised me that they will have a part for sale in the second quarter of 2009, I will update the board when it happens http://caddyinfo.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=12526 Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
