97eldoetc
It was 90 Degrees yesterday and all of a sudden my engine shuts off while i was driving I started the car again and turned on the A/C and it make a loud noise and the engine shut off!!! It will run without the A/C but as soon as I push the A/C button my engine shuts off... What can cause this to happen?? Has anyone had this problem?? KHE
It sounds like the compressor is siezed up - when the compressor clutch engages, the belt slips. Remove the accessory belt and attempt to turn the clutch by hand - I bet you won't be able to turn it. Logan
Yeah....bad AC compressor.....couple months ago. A family friend had a no start Ford truck. I dont know anything about Fords but offered to take a look. The AC was locked. Enough so that the engine could not turn over at all. KHE
You should inspect the belt ASAP - I am surprised it didn't get ripped to shreds.... Kevin '93 Fleetwood Brougham '05 Deville '04 Deville 2013 Silverado Z71
97eldoetc
KHE, The belt is still turning and it has not ripped yet... The a/c compressor is not locked up yet either, but it's getting there. Thanks, Liz
