cadillac_caddy_sts
Hey I had my oil changed on Saturday morning and the car took 7.6 litres is that what they take? I was very surprised by this should I be???? Defending Northstar perf a qtr mile at a time!!!!
growe3
Actually 7.6 liters is 8 quarts, a slight overfill. Shouldn't hurt anything, but may tend to burn or otherwise use the extra oil. It sounds like they poured oil in until it showed full on the dipstick, which is actually overfull. The Northstar is full when the oil is halfway into the index marks, when checked on a warmed up engine. -George Drive'em like you own 'em. - ....................04 DTS............................ tjtjwdad
Something that I've noticed with the N* is the oil level is different when the oil is hot as opposed when the oil is cold. I've really never noticed it in my other vehicles. Jim
growe3
Given that the volume is double a regular engine, I think it is just that the hot oil's expanded volume is more noticeable to us. -George Drive'em like you own 'em. - ....................04 DTS............................ tjtjwdad
Quite possibly, after all there's almost 2 gallons. I don't have anything else that holds that much. Jim
