***Cadillac Racing topped the time sheets in Thursday’s test day, with Johnny O’Connell reeling off an unofficial lap time of 2:05.999 in his Velocity Red-liveried No. 3 Cadillac ATS-V.R in the morning. Cooper got in the first row, 2nd in qualifying. O'Conell was third, but with the best time in GTA being put in the first row, he's in the second row.

The first race is on, but I can't get anything on the video feed. Anyone?

Cooper 3rd with a last-lap pass, O'Connell 5th. Hard day for Cadillac in the first race, but we have one car on the podium with the new young driver.

This weekend was the first full outing for the new Cadillac GT3 racing team. In the first race on Saturday, there were some kinks in the qualifying and a rough start, and the two ATS-VRs got caught in traffic, and came in 3rd and 5th. The second race today was another matter, and Cadillac came in first and second, running away from the field by a margin of over 10 seconds.

The drivers were Johnny O'Connell and Michael Cooper. Andy Pilgrim moved over to Black Swan Racing where he most recently drove a Porsche GE3-R at the Datona 500. See Andy's home page:

Michael Cooper came to the attention of Cadillac when BMW brought him to Bob Lutz's Cadillac Challenge in 2009 at age 21, and he did better than any of the other BMW drivers. He came in 3rd in the first race to O'Connell's 5th. O'Connell won the second race and Cooper came in second, six seconds behind. Third place was a McLaren 650S GT3, 16.7 seconds back.
