This morning while backing out of my driveway my Seville made a rubbing noise and started to shimmy vigorously. The power steering fluid is on the right level and I have never seen a leak. Tires are fine. Ihad warmed the car before I started to leave. The car is driven almost daily and is not drove hard. My thoughts are is it a pump issue or a hose issue? I'm new to ownijng a northstar and am unsure about troubleshooting issues. I read but none of issues previously posted really meets my problem... The issue i would have thought at first was I overcramped wheel but straightening up the wheeldint solve issue. I'm unable to drive the car with any feeling of safety.

Be careful. It could be that you have a bad serpentine belt, tensioner or idler wheel. It could even be the ac compressor hub bearing seizing. Did you hear any squeel when this happened?

When you say shimmy, I assume you mean the steering wheel as you turned it. If not explain what you mean by shimmied vigorously.

The first thing I would try is posting more detail about the problem here.

Look under the hood and see if any of the belts are off. If you don't feel comfortable driving the car, don't drive. You can wait for us to get back to you before you do anything. If you need the car immediately, don't hesitate to call AAA or a mechanic that you trust to come look at the car.

If you don't see the problem immediately, you might run the On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) and get the codes, write them down, and post them here. With the key on (but, under the circumstances, the engine off), you push the A/C OFF button and the top (warmer) end of the PASS rocker switch and hold until all the dash lights come on, like when you first turn on the key, then release both buttons. The OBD codes will be displayed in the order of the car's modules. They are of the form P0300 H, where the P may be any of P, B, C or U, the four numbers are the code, and the code is followed by an H or a C. The C codes are CURRENT and that should be noted when you write them down.

Post the codes here
