brcree
My 94 would not start tonight at 3 am! Nothing....no clicks, spins, nothing. Horn works, lights work. Neg. batt. cable was loose. After taking care of that still no go. Msg. on dash reads...starter disabled security......wait 3 min. to start....waited 3 min. nothing. Read the owners man. and it said something about the key not working.....any help on this would be a big help! Thanks.
Bruce Nunnally
The key security system depends on reading a resistor pellet embedded in the key. Over time this pellet may become dirty or worn and not read correctly. First, try your other key and see if the car starts. Next, try coating your key with WD40, inserting it into the tumbler, then removing, wiping off, coat, insert, remove, wipe off. This process is an attempt to use the key to clean the tumbler. After several repeats see if the car starts. Next, try disconnect the positive battery cable, wait 10 minutes, reconnect, see if the car starts. To bypass the security system see this thread: http://caddyinfo.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=40906 and this thread: http://www.caddyinfo.com/passkey.htm Finally, this thread details one Reader's experience with bypassing the system: http://caddyinfo.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=7295 Bruce 2023 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Follow me on: Twitter Instagram Youtube

brcree
Well Bruce....cleaning key was a no go, disconnecting batt. was a no go. It can never be easy can it? On to the next try.
Bruce Nunnally
You probably meant it this way -- but the cleaning procedure is for cleaning the inside of the ignition tumbler not the key per se. Göran W
I don´t think this is a key problem. Have You had any messages about key before this event? If not: Let the car sit for 15 minutes (doors closed, hood open), try disconnecting battery again, do not open or close anything, let it rest another 15 minutes, reconnect battery, let it rest 5 minutes, get in and turn on ign (do NOT attempt to start), let it sit for 5 minutes and then try start. brcree
Yes Bruce...I meant cleaning the tumblers ......Mr. W....I will give your suggestion a try later on today. No I haven't had any messages up to this point. But...yesterday it happened but did start after a few minuets. I didn't look to see if there were any messages at that time. Again, I did find the batt. ground gable a bit loose on the batt.
