Mailbag: Refilled refrigerant but compressor is off?

I have a 92 Cadillac Seville i recently bought refrigerant, and filled it up but my dash says the a/c compressor is off how do i turn it back on?

You have to reset the OBD codes to get the compressor to come back on. See the link in my signature block for instructions on how to get into the OBD codes.

Once the codes have cleared, you can begin to fill the compressor. If the Freon is really low, you will need to reset the codes again to keep the compressor running until you get enough Freon in the system so that it doesn't set the "Freon critically low" code and turn off the compressor.
