Bruce Nunnally
Mercedes has their new S class sedan on the way -- Summer of 2005. The new car will be bigger, but sportier. http://www.thecarconnection.com/index.asp?article=6776 The top of the line model will be the AMG version powered by a 6.3-liter V-8 delivering over 600 hp. Engines will range from a 3.0-liter V-6 to the massive V-12. So the STS-V is going to have to compete with a 600 hp S-class in performance? Marika
600 HP............. and we need this for what you say??????????? If you really want to make people safe drivers again then simply remove all the safety features from cars. No more seat belts, ABS brakes, traction control, air bags or stability control. No more anything. You'll see how quickly people will slow down and once again learn to drive like "normal" humans.
JasonA
600 HP............. and we need this for what you say??????????? SPEED! There's no such thing as too much power! Unfortunately, it's usually at the expense of mileage and driveability, but I'm sure Mercedes has "worked the kinks out" so to speak. They've already got a twin-turbo V-12 in their Maybach series cars. 0-60 in under 5 seconds and reclining back seats. In a class all its own... Bob D
So the STS-V is going to have to compete with a 600 hp S-class in performance? You know...I just have a funny feeling that there is going to be a "STS-V",blown, perhaps as much as five liters, that will give that beast a run... '93 STS.. opened, dropped, wide...fast. Marika
http://www.motoring.co.za/index.php?fSecti...=924&fSetId=382 Apparently, most luxury cars start out in South Africa and some parts of Europe before they end up here on the American market. If you enter the Gallery, you can find images of a few fancy cars such as a Jaguar Station Wagon and a Mercedes S55 AMG. You can also read the reviews of them. Remember, they don't use power ratings such as horse power. They use more modern ratings such as kW instead of HP and km/h instead of mph. To return to the main page of Motoring, go to http://www.motoring.co.za (Low and behold, a convertable MINI Cooper is on the horizon!!) http://www.motoring.co.za/index.php?fSecti...rticleId=231624 Mercedes SL55 is the world's fasted production car to 300km/h, says the article above. If you really want to make people safe drivers again then simply remove all the safety features from cars. No more seat belts, ABS brakes, traction control, air bags or stability control.
