rockfangd
Wanted to post my small project on my 96 Deville today. I had minor seepage from the small hose that gose on the back of the water pump cover housing. It was caused by corrosion builup between the cover and hose. So last year I pulled a housing from a 97 Deville and cleaned it, painted it, and replaced thermostat, seal, and installed new design housing gasket. I removed the old housing, replaced the upper radiator hose due to the common rub spots from the passenger side cooling fan and the driver side torque strut mount. Installed the new housing, cchecked the throttle body and everything underhood. Everything was good but I am baffled as domehow my transmission fluid was overfilled. I have had this car over 2 years and have never added any fluid and check te fluid at least every 6 months. So I used a baster and siphoned .75 quarts of fluid. The good thing is the fluid is cherry red and no shifting poblems. So anyway I was running 196- 221'f before, and tonight I drove 90 miles mixed between city and highway and went no higher than 206 even on very hard acceleration. I am yet again happy with my deville, My main goal is to hit 200,000 miles and as strong as it runs it will be a peice of cake. I by far love the 96-97 models best. .
