STS 94 TRANSMISSION PARTS

Recommended Posts

Hello there.

I need to replace the A and B solenoids on my 94 STS, but I have troubles identifying my transmission.

I guess it is the 4T80E but I'm not 100% sure.

Could anyone help me with this issue, my VIN is 1G6KY5298RU820295 ?

I just need the original P/N for the solenoids to order the correct parts.

Thanks for your help

Yes it is the 4T80e, but you have the STS version of it, not the SLS version. Not sure if that matters for shift solenoids, but keep that in mind, the two tranny's are not swappable.

Why do you need a part number?

Go to www.gmotors.com and give them your VIN or go to www.rockauto.com we use both sources all the time. Buy and replace both shift sensors and use the new bracket that it comes with if it comes with one.

Well I was asked the P/N bay Rockauto that's why I was enquiring.

But I just confirmed them my tranny was a 4T80E (STS) and I'm now waiting for their reply to place my order.

Thanks for your help

Odd, I have never seen rockauto request a part number unless you are using the section that finds a part via part number

Instead go by year, model etc, and find the part via the part description and manufacturer.

Dont forget that we have a 5% discount coupon here someplace for rockauto

Hi Mike,

I'm in touch with Rockauto concerning my solenoid pb.

But I'm in troubles. The ref they give me concerns a pressure regulator from ATP. I mentionned I needed A and B solenoids but they come out with only one ref and no bracket... And I don't have the faintest idea what these solenoids look like and what is exactly their pupose. Pb is when I put the Cad in D, all is fine until the tranny engage the 4th gear (I don't know if I'm clear). At this point it gets stuck on the 2nd gear and I have to disconnect the battery to get back to normal. That means I only run the car on the "3" position which is not cool.

The previous owner told me the solenoids had to be replaced (A and B), but that's where I'm stuck.

Otherwise the tranny works fine.
