RatTrapper
Hello, I purchase my wife an 05 ESV Platinum for christmas, replacing our Durango and I can say we are very impresssed. Cadillac does indeed make a very nice product, most impressed with the slightly better gas mileage, considering the caddy is larger. I have been doing some research online and came across the site and was excited to see so much useful information in one place. Anyways, I just wanted to drop a line and indroduce myself. I will post some pics as soon as I can. It is Red E in color, very pretty. Regards, ESV

BodybyFisher
Welcome aboard, let us know how we can help Was your Durango a HEMI? My neighbor had the HEMI and you could watch the gas gage move, it was terrible on gas. scott y
Greetings and congrats on your wife's new ESCALADE! That's the one we'll likely be looking at next..
RatTrapper
Thanks everyone and yeah, it was a HEMI and boy did it drink the gas. Plenty of power when you asked for it, but horrible on gas. I bought it new in 05 and it was starting to have tranny issues at 132,000. Also had some body dings and paint wear. My only concern with the escalade is a video I just watched talking about how easy it is for people to steal them. I guess I never noticed that the steering column does not lock and you can steer the wheel without the key. I guess people break the window, climb in, which doesn't set off the alarm, force it out of park into neutral and push it down the road with a push vehicle. The good thing is we live out in the woods, so it is not that much of a concern here, but we do like to drive down to Florida for Feb vacation. Has anyone else here ever heard of that or seen that news clip on the internet? You can just run a search for escalade gone in 14 seconds. Thanks again for the warm welcome, ESV
BodybyFisher
WOW, I did not know this, http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2010/10/gone-in-14-seconds-why-the-cadillac-escalade-is-americas-most-stolen-vehicle/ You should get yourself a steering wheel lock, I am not sure how good they are, but its a thought http://www.steeringwheellock.net/ Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

BodybyFisher
Jim does your steering wheel no longer lock? Texas Jim
Jim does your steering wheel no longer lock? Yes..it "DOES" lock, but so did my 1980 Sedan deVille...which was stolen TWICE... :) I would "THINK" that when 99 percent of car thieves see the CLUB on the steering wheel...they will just go on down the road and look for an easier target. There are many easy targets out there. The sorry, dirty, low down, scum sucking, bottom feeding, rotten, mama was a dog, too lazy to work, welfare drawing, crack smoking, pants falling off, thieves are just looking for something easy to steal... that someone else worked hard for. In case you didn't notice... I don't like thieves... I would like to say how I really feel about them...but I don't want to get banned.
