Windsheild wiper not working

Recommended Posts

Turned on wipers after cleaning ice and snow off my windshield. The passanger side wiper was evidentally still frozen to the windshield when I turned the wipers on and now the one wiper won't work. Is there a bushing or something that I may have stripped out when this happened or do I need to replace the whole stinkin' wiper motor now? The driver side wiper still works, but I also lost wiper cleaner spray function. Need to fix this today as it has snowed every weekend here in Minnesota. Thanks!

i cant say about your particular car but i have seen two types of connections between the wiper arm and the pivot. Some have a splined shaft on the pivot and some are cone/inverse cone press together. you may be able to loosen the nut that holds the arm down and just reposition the arm and retighten the nut. I believe they are supposed to release in an event like yours to prevent the wiper motor from burning up. Worth a look. Mike

airmike is correct. manually move your wipers throught their range with the key off and they should pop back into place. There is a safety that breaks the wipers loose, if they freeze to the windshield.

With Global WARMING getting so bad..... haha.... You may need to know about that down there in Texas, Jim

I happened to notice that it was a stilfing 34 degrees last week in Dallas. That isn't too common is it?

If you look back in the history here, I have said that the SUN has a major impact on our weather. I have sighted the sun spot cycle, the recent dearth of sun spots as evidence and the fact that the ice cap on Mars has receded, which is not likely due to OUR CO2 production. But we continue to have those nuts who insist we are destroying the planet, inspite of the progress we have made on emissions reduction in the last 20 years, that no one seems to want to acknowledge.

I saw this article last week that was not surprising to me.
