tezken1
Hi everyone I'm new to forum I was wondering if anyone has an idea why my 97 Deville won't start? When I turn the key I'm just hearing a click and then nothing just one click and then thats it could it be starter? Or maybe the starter relay?? BodybyFisher
Did you go here and read up on your first posting here? http://caddyinfo.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=15254 Check these things 1) how is the battery, has it been load tested? Do not assume a relatively new battery is good. A dead battery will not easily be jumped. 2) how are your battery connections?, have they been cleaned?, are they tight? 3) Have you checked for DTC codes? Also when it does that click does it seem like power is lost and then comes back, or just a click but everything else seems normal? relaxitsonlyagame
Like BodybyFisher said just check your battery, and your connections and cables for corrosion first. And if all else fails check your starter. My friend had a problem with his where on a full charge the starter would just click but would start with a boost. A new starter got him going again and was actually really easy to replace considering where it is on this motor.
scott y
I can change the starterin one of these cars easily in an hour...but i usually end up cleaning and detailing while in there according to the GM book it's supposed to be a 3 hour job. I would rather stand and change a starter than twist and contort underneath the damned thing. Seems like a good ideer to me!
