I received the following codes on my car. They are self explanatory, but I wanted to know if anyone had some more in depth information or suggestions on the repair and fixing of these codes. I have a 99 Seville STS. Here are the codes:

U1064 AMP HISTORY - LOSS OF COMMUNICATION WITH DIM

B1343 IPM HISTORY - AIR INLET DOOR MOVEMENT FAULT

PO300 PCM CURRENT - ENGINE MISFIRE DETECTED

C1738 RSS CURRENT - EXHAUST SOLENOID VALVE SHORT TO GROUND

Any experience with these codes or more info would be greatly appreciated.

B1343 IPM HISTORY - AIR INLET DOOR MOVEMENT FAULT

This is referring to the HVAC system. Not exactly sure which door they are talking about though. I would think it is the air mix door. Never heard it called an inlet door before.

C1738 RSS CURRENT - EXHAUST SOLENOID VALVE SHORT TO GROUND

This is the exhaust (vent) solenoid on the ELC compressor.

When you read the descriptions on the codes on this forum page, that what it says. Im sorry, for being a newbie, but what is the ELC compressor and would I be able to change this myself? If so what, what do i need to order and where is the solenoid located? I appreciate your response and would appreciate your help.

C1738.

Is this like egr? Or emission control? You don't need it. It just eats horsepower.

Engine misfire I would look into. Test all wires. You might have a cylinder out. God forbid.

That statement is 100% NOT true. This is NOT like the original EGR valves from 1972, in addition that code has NOTHING to do with EGR

Cylinder out? A misfire can be caused by a simple problem like a spark plug

Listen to this guy. I was probably wrong on the egr. I've always worked on older cars, otherwise I wouldn't be asking for help here. Sorry, I was trying to help while I waited for a response on my problem.

And my statement wasn't 100% false. It was a question. Is that like egr? :)

ELC = Electronic Level Control. The compressor is located up in the fender well behind the RR wheel if I remember correctly. The solenoid should be on the compressor.

Thanks guys, I appreciate all the feedback. I had my wires and spark plugs changed. It is running good now. The code has been cleared, so I will check later to see if it comes back. Also, the check engine light has gone out. So I will see if any of those codes will come back. What does the " Lost Comm with DIM"? what does this mean? Once again thank you for all the feedback.

Listen to this guy?, lose the attitude.

Lets get something straight, when you make an erroneous statement it will be corrected, PERIOD. You said "YOU DON'T NEED IT and it WASTES HORSEPOWER"! I said that is 100% NOT true and that has NOT been true for a LONG TIME, you DO need it, and it does NOT waste horsepower.

I didnt put you down, I simply corrected your erroneous statement!!

EGR Flow on modern vehicles is extremetly important for proper combustion and cooling.

Feel free to ask for help and give advice, if its wrong, don't get offended if I correct you, we can not allow disinformation or misinformation to remain for members to read it later.... Welcome aboard

And I responded above to your question, it has NOTHING to do with the EGR, it has to do with the Electronic Level Control, its has to do with the compressor exhaust solenoid
