Your Cadillac has an on-board diagnostic system. If you go to the top of this page click HOW TO, then DTC Codes, and follow the directions for your year and you will be able to retrieve the codes and post them here if you want

As far as over-riding the PCM parameters, I do not believe you can permanently override powertrain codes on OBD2 Cadillacs

hp-tuner editing software works on the cts i know for sure as well as the cts-V im going to have to check with them see if it will work just was wondering if any one had used it on a north star car. i will have to do some digging but the great thing is the scanner works great on the car i can do anything that a snap on scanner will to plus some from real time data logging that covers all sensors.

now on to my next question looking to do the brakes being it was a used car and first thing i always do when buying a used car is oil change using pens-oil platinum as well as brake fluid flush i was looking into 2 different brake systems one being the R1 concept rotor's cross drilled and slotted with ceramic pads or the complete units from a gxp Bonnie i believe the rear brakes may be a problem being that they had rust on the rear rotors before i drove it rust has works away now there is pitting from where the rust was.

also looking into a new ignition cylinder i think that may be the root of my problem with my security system my buddy at the caddy dealer told me its been a problem on these as well as the cluster.

i will have a full report this weekend on my findings.

As far as I know, the Northstar is a very closed system and not much can be overridden, we had a member that turbo charged his NS that confirmed that. He ended up using a piggyback computer to 'fool' the PCM.

Let us know what you find out.

bummer this is what i found on the hp-tuners site 06-09 Cadillac CTS 6.0, 6.2 2 12

06-09 Cadillac STS 4.4, 4.6 (4.6 in 07+ only)

06-09 Cadillac XLR 4.4, 4.6 (4.6 in 07+ only)

06-09 Cadillac DTS 4.6

but i can still toggle some controls with my scanner but as far as editing looks like i may have to see if my tuner cat software will get into it my plan is to not over ride or shut off any dtc's i would like to make a few timing adjustments as well adjust shift points and tune for e85 fuel.

You are correct about the NorthStar year models that can be tuned.

I have a 2006 DTS Performance Sedan.

It has been tuned using EFI Live. :D:D:D:D

As far as I know...no NorthStar "OLDER" than 2006, can be tuned by "ANY" off the shelf software.

Good luck in your quest.
