Scarabeo500gt
This car is new to me but I still hope this is not too dumb of a question. In the daytime everything is normal "NO LIGHT IS ON" but at night only my traction control light comes on??? Is that normal? I still have the other problem with the P0410 code from the (AIR) system but it seems that something in a censer kicks the traction control light on only at night. Thanks 2001 Deville
Texas Jim
Just wondering...have you tried turning on your HEADLIGHTS in the daytime... JUST TO SEE if the TC light comes on then? Could be a crossed wire somewhere or a bad ground.

I found another Deville owner up my street - he said his does the same thing $%^&*#%^$^ My dad owns a 03 Deville and his never comes on and far as I can tell my 01 and his 03 are the same. Now I can relay any fix I find to the guy up the street!
BodybyFisher
No other codes other than P0410? If the traction control light is coming on, you should have a code, that causes the light to come on, it does NOT just come on by itself, a failed test that sets a code turns it on Check for codes Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

I tested it 2X and both X the headlights were turned on at some point the light showing traction control turned on. Not right away but very soon after turning on headlights - so that shows why it was triggering on at night only till now. Still looking for why at idle during Stop lights my car jumps up and down gasping then spudders at take off??? Guess for now I will work on checking wiring ground etc... Scarabeo500gt
Found this reply elsewhere on the forum to another issue but I once had the stuck clutch code P0741 I think and now the tracktion control light thing could the 2 things be related? read below and see if that may apply. "An '01 Deville will have two switches operated by the brake pedal arm. There are several functions that use "brakes applied" information; TCC unlock, cruise module, traction control module, shift from Park lock mechanism, and of course the stop lights. Perhaps one of the switches is corroded or the chassis connector is loose. Easy enough to remove the switches; rotate the switch body 1/4 turn CCW and it's in your hand. Install is simply push the switch back into the mount and a ratchet mechanism locks it in place. The switch body will come apart so you can inspect the internal contacts. Been there, done that. Switch position adjustment is not difficult. I like to set mine so the very slightest movement of the brake pedal will kill the cruise and flash the stop lamps without actually applying the brakes". bchristo
This sounds alot like my Prob. I will check brake connections under the dash...A funny thing on my 2001 DTS, I can not seem to turn off the headlights. Slising the "Twilight knob" all the way over gives me the message "Headlights suggested" but the Headlights are on? No matter how bright the day. ??? This is the sensor (think its called the sunload sensor), the sensor thinks that its DARK out, and commands your headlights ON full time. Its on the top of the dash, usually under the defroster grill Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
