KHE Posted August 29, 2009 Report Share Posted August 29, 2009 Yes - the shaft seal can be changed on that compressor. Go to www.gmotors.com and request a quote for the seal. Be sure to request the double lip teflon shaft seal and you will not ever need to do the job again. You will need the shaft seal protector tool, shaft seal installer/remover, clutch plate remover/installer, snap ring pliers, a non-metallic pick, and clutch holding tool. DO NOT attempt the job without the proper tools. You will also need Kimberly Clark "Kimwipes" #34155 - they are a lint free tissues. Once the old seal is removed, use denatured alcohol and a Kimwipe to clean the shaft and sealing surfaces. Use a dry Kimwipe to finish.
