FSchuett
Hello, I have problems with my ´95 Eldo. The trunk don´t close, because the motor don´t run if I want to close the trunk. The trunk motor is OK, because the motor open the trunk... Now, I´ve clean the bottom switch witch WD40 -> nothing. Than I buy a used pull down unit witch switch and install them -> nothing. I´ve an old manual from ´92 Eldorado and the wire color are not the same. Can you help with the color ???? Top switch (in the hood): red / black / black-orange Wire Connector to the top switch (in the hood): yellow-black / black / black-orange pull down unit switch: orange / red / black Now, I´ve bridge the top switch red / black and black / black-orange -> nothing What is witch the pull down unit switch and there wires ? I think red is "plus" and black is "negative" and orange ???? Anyone the correct wire plan ? Or any idea to repair my car ??? Thank Frank
adallak
I have removed the pull down mechanism, manually brought the latch to lower position (by twisting), reinstalled with wiring disconnected. Now I close the trunk manually but still can open it up remotely. This way I know it is not going to fail again. If, nevertheless, you want to keep it as it was before, I am sure others will chime in with instructions. KHE
I am away from my manuals but I would check the wiring that attaches to the trunk hinge - it is somewhat common for one or more of the wires to break where they flex when the trunk is opened and closed. KHE
I would just replace the lower switch - it is fairly reasonable in price. Kevin '93 Fleetwood Brougham '05 Deville '04 Deville 2013 Silverado Z71
BSchlossmann
It's been several years since I took the trunk switch apart, performed a general clean up, and put it back together. I seem to recall that there were 3 rivits that had to be drilled out and later replaced with a long screws and nuts. I also used a lot of white lithium grease on the screw mechanism. My problem was caused when I was putting an empty 20 pound propane tank into the trunk and nailed the pulldown loop real bad. The trunk would open but wouldn't close. I believe that only the solenoid when activated causes the truch to open and the motor isn't really involved. At this point the motor runs and puts the latch in the up position in preparation for latching and then pulling down and closing the trunk. Hope this helps.
